Weird Photography + Facebook Page

It's all out there, I'm a fine artist photographer.

Expect my work to be of the weird kind, my work in generic photography will become less and less. I don't get nearly as much pageviews/favourites (not that they matter) for the work I actually enjoy making or thinking up. That can only mean two things,
1. It's not as strong as my other work and I need more practise in it, or
2. Deviantart is not the place to be a diverse and wacky artist, it is built for the majority and stereotypes.

I reckon it's a bit of both personally, a little bit of everything else. I'll go with dominantly the first idea, as I do enjoy being on dA and to think it's not for me makes me a little sad inside.

But yes, more and more I can't bring myself to photograph things like daily life/events/memories. This makes me ever so sad, but it's because of what I attach to my big Canon. I need to rummage through my old things and get out my banged up 4mp point and shoot I started with, and snap away to my hearts content. This was newly inspired by a friends view against this idea of "art". It's never been art to me, it's just been part of the essence of life.

I've been preparing for University, I have a project which I'm fulfilling today and tomorrow morning (need to get up early to shoot it). Wonderwall + Crossroads.

Sometimes my room feels like it's got a wonderwall. Well most of the time, ever since I first set foot in it, I've always felt like I'm being watched. Perhaps it's a good thing, perhaps not. Perhaps why I'm never in it.

I'm off to Houston, Texas soon. I want me some lucky charms. Rather excited of course but nothing too crazy. ;P

Keep my grandfather in your thoughts right now. Though my little soul worries a little too much I reckon.

Facebook Fanpage
I thought I'd give it a go, basically I made a facebook fanpage for my work, so people can follow me on there as well as on here etc.

Oh yeah... I forgot you were going to be in Houston. That seems weird to me for some reason. I hope you have a good time and I hope you get lots of great photos. A lot of people complain that there's nothing to do in Houston (because it's not a touristy type place I suppose), but I've always been fond of it. Probably because I got to know the city a little better while I was in college and those were pretty good years.

^__^ That's the thing, I'm not going for the tourism, I'm going for the average american life sortof thing. Plus there are a lot of things I've got written down to see, gonna go to NASA and things like that. :] ;P So i'll be a bit of a tourist. But above all, I just want to get to know the place! :D

^_^ I'm sure I'll be very fond of it there, and to know you went to college there is quite awesome! :D ^_^

If you plan to go to any art museums while you're there, I'd recommend The Menil Collection. I've always enjoyed it for several reasons. It's relatively small and intimate (about 1/10 the size of the Museum of Fine Arts). The building is planted in a residential neighborhood where the houses immediately around the museum are painted the same color as the museum itself. Also, it's free... so that's always nice. There are several buildings that make up the complex. The Byzantine Fresco Chapel Museum and the Dan Flavin installation are my favorites outside of the main museum.

I'd also recommend visiting the campus of Rice University (my alma mater) simply because I think it's a pretty campus. But I'm very biased. My wife and I were just there a week ago, actually. We used to go into Houston relatively often since it's only an hour drive, but it's hard these days because of James.

I'll definitely give a go at checking out those places! I just can't wait to explore :D
