Home at last...

Journal Entry: Wed Jul 9, 2008, 6:59 AM
I'm home from Paris now. My brother's german exchange partner is spending a week in the room across the hall from me. x] Lovely. I'm currently feeling alright... Paris opened up a lot of photography nostalgia since I've been a slow down since my exams 'cos I had to revise etc. You'll be seeing a lot more very soon!

Paris was... interesting this time. There were a lot of scary men we came across, one being a flasher. Then a few who asked us for sex and things... A few more harrassing us on the train. Then I had an artist follow me around Montmartre drawing a caricature of me. I was not amused, he was stalking me as I was running away going, I do not want one! He gave me it for free in the end, and I refrained from ripping it up in his face and kept it for my family to find the funny side of it all. As an artist, I half understand, but I did not feel in the mood to be poked fun at in a drawing by some creepy old guy from Russia.

Overall it was a laugh in that the hotel was comfortable. Also, we witnessed a film set at Trocadero near the Eiffel Tower, which was amazing. Actors dressed in World War II outfits and Nazi's chatting about something. Hontou Sugoi!! Lots of other little things were funny, most of the conversations that my roomie Catherine and I had well into the night were hilarious and I'll remember them for a long time.

I can't believe I only have like two weeks of school left, I did not realise at all. It's insane, I have so much work to do. Currently a page report for art on a mission statement and then a Debate essay in French to finish on gender equality of today, as well as two economics essays on the EU's growth and the Euro. What a busy lass I'm going to be the next few weeks. Then it'll be blissful holiday, without economics, without essays, and full of photography (hopefully).

I chatted with one of my new art teachers who don't know me very well about how I want to go straight to degree. She didn't even know I liked photography. It made me laugh when she went, "Wow... these ARE good..." as if someone had told her about me but she had underestimated me on principal. We chatted about my strengths and where I want to take it. She started getting me talking about my photographs and why I think they work, which was really useful since I've never had practise at that and I'll need that kind of confirmation when I do my interview. I'm feeling a lot more confident at the moment about my art work. No more, "Jaz sucks."

I need to sort my life a bit. It's such a mess in my room/desk. I just don't know where I am anymore. I'm forgetting a lot of things. Then finding them when it's too late. I need to enter a few more photography competitions this summer.

Gosh I sound so boring these days. blahblahblahi'mbusyblahblahblah... at least I'm around I guess. :] I still think of all you guys when I'm working my butt off researching for art. Anyone know of any good photography/art exhibitions around London/Birmingham/Liverpool this summer? :']
